Lawrence A. Tabak, D.D.S., Ph.D., was named the Acting Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), effective December 20, 2021. He will take over for Dr. Francis Collins who has been in the post for over a decade.
Dr. Tabak has served as the Principal Deputy Director and the Deputy Ethics Counselor of NIH since August 2010.
